Sip, Savour, and Socialise: A Morning of Networking Delight

24 Sep 2023

Social Spark Events #September Edition was nothing short of extraordinary – from the moment you stepped through the doors, it was a morning of mingling, munching, and mastering the art of social media. And we’ve got the delicious dish on what went down.

The day kicked off with a burst of vibrant freshness as attendees were greeted with delightful fruit platters and an array of freshly squeezed juices. You know what they say, an apple (or maybe some strawberries and oranges) a day keeps the creative block away. It was the perfect way to invigorate our senses and get those networking gears turning.

Small business owners from a range of industries gathered around these vibrant platters, sharing stories of their entrepreneurial journeys and finding common ground over the juiciest of topics. There’s something sweet about breaking the ice with a slice of succulent rockmelon in hand!

After some mingling and nibbling, attendees were treated to a brunch spread that would make any foodie’s heart skip a beat. We’re talking a choice of five mouthwatering brunch items that catered to all tastes – from the classic avo on toast – the brunch connoisseur’s dream, to irresistibly sweet pancakes that were *almost* too pretty to eat.

Picture this: golden-brown pancakes topped with a generous drizzle of maple syrup and a sprinkle of fresh berries, a symphony of flavours dancing on your taste buds topped with luscious pink fairy floss. It was brunch heaven, and every bite felt like a well-deserved treat. And let’s not forget the barista coffee – a cup of liquid motivation that had everyone buzzing with anticipation for the day ahead.

Carla Thomas: The Social Media Guru

One of the highlights of the morning was an exclusive interview with Carla Thomas, the Founder of The Next.Agency. Carla is like the Yoda of social media, and she dropped some serious knowledge bombs on our guests.

Carla emphasised that in today’s digital age, organic reach in social media is the holy grail. It’s all about connecting with your audience in an authentic and meaningful way, and showing a consistent presence online. Forget about the vanity metrics; it’s the engagement and real conversations that count. She then delved into the nitty-gritty of paid advertising. When is the right time to invest in those ads? According to Carla, it’s not just about having a budget; it’s about having a strategy. Know your target audience inside out, and invest when you’re confident that your message will resonate.

Perhaps the most burning question in every entrepreneur’s mind: which social media platform is the promised land for your business? Carla had a simple yet profound answer – it’s where your audience hangs out. Don’t spread yourself thin; focus on the platforms that align with your brand and where you can truly engage with your community. Focus on one platform, master it, and then add another to your repertoire. Carla’s insights left our attendees buzzing with new ideas and determined to revamp their social media strategies.

Networking, without the awkward

We all know that networking events can sometimes have that awkward “I don’t know where to start” moment. But not at Social Spark Events! We have ice-breakin’ prompts and conversation starters that are as smooth as silk, so there’s never a dull moment.

The atmosphere was electric with the exchange of ideas and experiences. Attendees effortlessly moved from one conversation to another and learned from each other’s successes and challenges – and where everyone greeted each other with hugs instead of handshakes.

Of course, no memorable event is complete without capturing those fabulous moments. We had a talented photographer, Zahrah, on the scene, snapping away to ensure that every smile and laughter-filled exchange was captured. And her lens didn’t just get the best  snapshots; it captured the essence of the event. The candid shots of animated conversations, joyous laughter, and the profound moments of connection – they all came together to tell the story of a morning well spent.

Conversation starter question

We’re committed to providing you with the tools and opportunities to thrive in your business journey. So, whether you were part of the networking morning or missed out this time, remember that the spirit of collaboration and growth is alive and well in the small business world – and we’d love to have you at our tables!
